What has Inspired Medical Minshare?

Medical Mindshare is currently serving a closed community. It will soon be open in the state of Utah. It has been inspired by the needs of those with: Dual Diagnosises, Recovery from Addiction, Chronic Pain, and more

Here is what we focus on:

Addressing the Whole Person: Addiction isn't just about substance use, but involves physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. An integrative center can address all these areas to provide comprehensive care and promote lasting recovery.

Treating Co-Occurring Disorders: Many individuals with substance use disorders also have co-occurring mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. An integrative model allows for simultaneous and coordinated treatment of both addiction and mental health issues, which leads to more effective treatment and a reduced risk of relapse.

Offering a Wider Range of Therapies: Integrative medicine incorporates conventional treatments (like medication and therapy) alongside complementary approaches such as:

  • Mind-body practices (meditation, yoga)
  • Creative arts therapies (art, music)
  • Nutritional therapy
  • Physical exercise and movement therapies
  • Other therapies (acupuncture, massage)

This expands treatment options and allows for personalized care plans tailored to individual needs.

Improving Mental and Physical Health: Addressing the physical and mental health needs beyond the addiction itself can lead to better outcomes. For instance, therapies like yoga and nutritional support can aid in detoxification, strengthen the body, reduce stress, and improve mental well-being.

Empowering Patients: Integrative approaches can empower patients by:

  • Helping them develop healthy coping skills.
  • Fostering a sense of self-agency and control over their well-being.
  • Providing a more engaging and relevant treatment experience.
  • Potential for Better Long-Term Outcomes: Studies suggest that integrated treatment approaches can lead to a lower risk of relapse and better long-term recovery rates compared to treating conditions separately.
  • Support for Patients with Significant Additional Medical Conditions (SAMCs): Individuals with co-occurring medical conditions can particularly benefit from integrated care, showing a significantly higher likelihood of abstinence compared to those in independent care settings, according to a study published by the NIH.
